Manny Pacquiao’s MP Promotions is staging another free-to-the-public boxing show on Dec. 14 at the Tumbler Gym in General Santos City. Topbilled by rising bantamweight Jack Tepora, who has an unbeaten record of 8-0 with five KOs, the Pacquiao-promoted event will be one of many cards the Filipino star is going to unveil in the coming months, according to his Canadian adviser Mike Koncz.
Pacquiao, who turns 35 on Dec. 17, is in the thick of training for his crucial comeback bout set for Nov. 24 against Brandon Rios in Macau. Last week, MP Pormotions staged an IBF light-flyweight title clash between Filipino Johnreil Casimero and Mexican challenger Felipe Salguero at the Makati Coliseum. Koncz said the TV ratings blew them away. “It was a great success,” said Koncz, who was at ringside together with Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum.
Tepora is originally from Cebu City and is being groomed for bigger things. A former amateur standout, Tepora, just 18 years old, will be going up against a tough Thai who will be named later. Also lending a hand to Koncz in putting up the Dec. 14 show is Nonoy Neri, one of Pacquiao’s local trainers.
