Welterweight Jorge “Maromerito” Paez (36-4-1, 21 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Rodolfo “Rudy” Quintanilla (13-3-3, 10 KOs) in the main event on Saturday night in the Arena Tecate located in the parking of the Agua Caliente Racetrack in Tijuana. Paez dropped Quintanilla in round one, but was forced to go the full ten. Scores were 98-91, 97-92 and 99-90.
In other featured bouts, bantamweight Alejandro “Cobrita” Gonzalez (20-0-2, 13 KOs) pounded out a ten round unanimous decision over “Tiger” Cayetano (15-2, 7 KOs). Scores were 98-91, 97-92 and 96-93.
Also, super lightweight Abner Lopez (14-3, 13 KOs) scored a controversial second round KO over previously unbeaten Dario “Sargento” Garibay (7-1-1, 6 KOs). After being rocked in round one, Lopez came back in round two to wobble Garibay enough to touch a glove to the canvas. However, just as the referee tried to send Lopez to a neutral counter Lopez leveled Garibay with a right to the chin that left him on the canvas for several minutes.
