Palacios full of confidence

By Rey Colón -The Sport Press

Unbeaten cruiserweight Francisco “The Wizard” Palacios (20-0, 13 KOs), who on April 2 will go to Poland in search of the WBC title against champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (44-2-1, 33 KOs), has reiterated that he will return to Puerto Rico as the third Puerto Rican to reign in that division, as did Carlos ‘Sugar’ Leon and Ossie Ocasio before him. “I’m going to Poland and I will win,” vowed Palacios. “I’ll bring the green crown for Puerto Rico. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime and will be the best gift for my son who will be born when I am gone. I will not be there for the birth of my first child on March 31 and this will be my gift. I’ll do for my son and to keep a promise to my brother before he was buried.”

“I’m very confident in my training and myself. I’ll leave the last drop of blood in the ring. I know I’ll be in his backyard but if it goes the judges decision, they’ll have to give it to me because I’m going to give him a beating and if I have the opportunity to knock him out, I will. He’s going to have to kill me if he wants to take this dream from me.”

Palacios, along with trainer Joshua Aguilar and cutman Gil Maldonado, travel to Poland 14 days before the bout.
