This Saturday in Panama City, former two-division world champion Roberto “La Araña” Vasquez (32-5-1, 22 KOs) and Filipino John Mark Apolinario (17-2-2, 4 KOs) will dispute the vacant WBA interim bantamweight world title in a rematch.
“I’m ready to win this fight,” said Apolinario. “The first fight I had slight advantage. This time I hope to win clearly. I’m in good conditions. We’re on another continent but my boxing and confidence will give me the victory.”
Vazquez stated, “In the ring I’m better than Apolinario. I have a lot of experience and I’ve faced the best. This time there’s a lot to gain and we are in my country. I’m ready for big fights and I’m one of the best in this division.”
On the same night IBF light flyweight world champion John Riel Casimero (17-2, 10 KOs) will defend his crown against mandatory challenger Luis Rios (18-1-1, 13 KOs).
The event is organized by companies Samspon Boxing LLC and Best Box and will be broadcast on TyC Sport, SKY and TV-MAX.
For Vasquez-Apolinario, WBA officials will be referee Luis Pabon (Puerto Rico) and judges Nelson Vasquez (Puerto Rico), Levy Martinez (U.S.) and Carla Caiz (U.S.). The fight supervisor: Francisco Piña (Colombia).
