Panther Promotions open workout

Panther Promotions offered up an enticing appetizer this afternoon at The Seminole Hard Rock in advance of their “Future Superstars” card next Friday night at the casino. Nestled amongst the “Meals on Wheels” trucks parked in the Hooters parking lot, boxing fans enjoyed a taste of next week’s intriguing undercard. Female flyweight Marisol Miranda (4-4, 1 KO) worked up a hard sweat in the South Florida heat with head trainer Bonnie Canino during some intense shadowboxing, mitt work and light sparring. Miranda squares off against Chantel “Gorgeous Babe” Cordova (8-2-1, 3 KOs) of Colorado in a six-round undercard special attraction.

Co-main event headliner Damian “Devo” Frias (18-4-1, 9 KOs) stepped into the ring next to work some good rounds under the watchful eye of head trainer John David Jackson. Frias brings his crafty southpaw style to bear next week against fellow welterweight Henry Crawford (22-1-1, 9 KOs) of Patterson New Jersey in their ten-round battle. Crawford looks to erase the only blemish on his record–suffered in his last fight against Antwone Smith– with a rebound win against the hometown Frias.

Legendary former eight-time World champion Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns will be on hand for next Thursday’s weigh-in and VIP reception as well as ringside for the Friday card. It will be a reunion of sorts between Hearns and former opponent and current Panther Promotions Boxing Director Harold Weston. The two fought in 1979, with Hearns clinching a six-round victory after Weston suffered a career-ending detached retina injury from a thumb to his left eye.

Ticket prices are $105, $65, $35*. All seats are reserved and available at all Ticketmaster outlets online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone: 1-800-745-3000. Doors open one-hour prior to show start time. *Additional fees may apply. $1 of every ticket sold will be donated to the charitable organization “HELP OTHERS”, a non-for-profit organization established to assist young men and women to obtain scholarship assistance as well as assisting single mothers to help their children to advance themselves in a better direction.
