Winning the WBC light-heavyweight belt certainly hasn’t humbled flamboyant boxer Jean Pascal who was in rare form Monday as he faced off versus mandatory challenger Silvio Branco in advance of the fight that goes off this Friday at Montreal’s Bell Centre. “I’m going to score a knock him out, EARLY, so don’t be late,” said Pascal who promised to cook up a “blood sauce,” for his Italian opponent. Branco who has held the WBA belt twice and fights in North America for the first time says he’s been preparing for this fight for over a year, “I was supposed to fight Adrian Diaconu but that fight never happened because he didn’t want to fight me, I thank Pascal for the opportunity and we’ve come here to win this fight.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
