Pascal-Hopkins: Few Words

By Dave Spencer/Fightnews Canada

They both threw the same punch, but it was Bernard Hopkins who got off first at today’s final press conference in advance of Saturday’s rematch between The Executioner and WBC Champion Jean Pascal set for the Bell Centre in Montreal.

For all the talk leading into the fight, each combatant uttered just three words each after taking the microphone, “Enjoy the Fight.” The usually talkative Hopkins took to the stage first and after uttering death threats in previous outings, kept it short and sweet with the, “Enjoy the fight,” greeting.

Pascal who had demanded drug testing of Hopkins in their initial press conference to announce the fight was also a man of few words matched the 46 year-old fighter word for word when called upon to speak.

When fielding questions from the media, Hopkins when asked about his legacy, again stuck to the same three-word combination, “Enjoy the fight,” at which point both fighters beat a hasty retreat to the exits.
