Coming off his first career loss, former IBF world champion Paul “The Pittsburgh Kid” Spadafora (48-1-1, 19 KOs) will return to action against veteran three-time world title challenger Hector Velazquez (56-21-3, 38 KOs) on Friday, July 11 at the Rivers Casino Amphitheater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 38-year-old “Pittsburgh Kid” is looking to get back in the title picture after a disputed majority decision loss for the WBA interim world title against champion Johan Perez.
“Pittsburgh—this is your one opportunity to witness one of the best prizefighters ever from the Steel City, and first world champion since the original Pittsburgh Kid Billy Conn, in 1941,” said future Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr., who is promoting the show in association with TNT Promotions. “Believe me, you won’t find a more picturesque venue in this country than Rivers Casino!”
Also included on the fight card, billed as “Rivers Rumble 4,” is Youngstown, Ohio’s favorite son Jake “The Bull” Giuriceo, Wheeling, WV’s exciting prospect Ronell Green, Puerto Rican crowd pleaser Antonio “Carita” Nieves and more.
Rivers Casino will hold a weigh-in party with all the boxers on Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m. in the Wheelhouse Bar and Grill (must be to 21 to attend).
