WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik weighed in at 159 pounds for Saturday’s title defense against mandatory challenger Marco Antonio Rubio, who weighed 160 even. It was an electric atmosphere as more than 3,000 fight fans packed the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown, Ohio, just to see the weigh-in. “It was like a Super Bowl,” promoter Bob Arum told Fightnews.com. “Promoters should take these kinds of fights to smaller cities all the time because the people really enjoy it.”
