Payasito-Tostado in the works for May in Mexico

All Star Boxing, Inc and its President Tuto Zabala, Jr. is working on putting together a clash between WBO Intercontinental bantamweight champion Alejandro “Payasito” Hernandez and WBO Latin champion Antonio “El Tostado” Tostado to be held on Friday, May 24 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Hernandez of Mexico City has a record of 27-10-2, 15 KOs, and is also the Mexican national champion. He recently surprised many experts when he stopped #5 WBO Marvin Mabait in 5 rounds on March 28 at the Foro Polanco. Tostado on the other hand has a record of 13-1, 6 KOs and won the Latino belt when he beat Jonathan “Pitbull” Vidal of Puerto Rico by decision on March 21 in Tampa, both fights where part of the successful Boxeo Telemundo Ford series.

“This is a great match up between two WBO regional champions unifying their belts,” said Zabala. “We are working on final details to formally make an announcement.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
