WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa (54-6-2, 36 KOs) is having a very solid training camp for his next bout. Penalosa will challenge WBO junior featherweight champion Juan Manuel ‘Juanma’ Lopez (24-0, 22KOs) on April 25th at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Penalosa is currently training at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California. The bout will take place at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Penalosa is very confident of victory and responded to Lopez’ recent comments on saying he was hoping to stop Penalosa within 5-6 rounds. “I hope he trains very hard. Jhonny Gonzalez said the same thing and look what happened to him. The same will happen to Lopez. I will win this fight,” said Penalosa. Lopez-Penalosa is promoted by Top Rank and PR Best Boxing (Ivan & Peter Rivera).
