Junior Welterweight Cleotis Pendarvis scored a major upset in stopping former contender Steve Quinones in the first round of a scheduled eight round bout at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, CA. Quinones (31-14-1, 10 KOs) dropped his hands after being spun around and was dropped when the southpaw Pendarvis (10-1-2, 3 KOs) landed a counter right hook to the head. Quinones got up on shaky legs, but Pendarvis swarmed all over him, hurting him again until referee Raul Caiz, Jr. stepped in and stopped the bout at 2:07. Super Welterweight Max Skayzer (6-0-1, 1 KO) remained unbeaten with a hard-fought six round unanimous decision over Bhakari Gates. Both traded heavy shots in the middle of the ring.
