Pereyra beats Pedrero by DQ

Oscar Jesus Pereyra (21-1, 13 KOs) defeated Patricio Antonio Pedrero (21-3-1, 10 KOs) to win the vacant WBA International lightweight title by way of seventh round disqualification. The card took place at the Casino de Rosario, in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina. Mario Margossian promoted the show. Pereyra was the effective aggressor pressing the counter punching-minded Pedrero who at times would stop and exchange with Pereyra. This would be costly as Pereyra would drop Pedrero in rounds four and six with Pedrero easily beating the count each time. In round seven Pedrero caught Pereya with a combo and the two ended up in a clinch. The referee then went in to separate them. Pedrero, with the referee in between them continued to hit Pereyra with a series of punches. One this punches was an uppercut that sent Pereyra crashing to the canvas and unable to continue. The referee then disqualfied Pedrero. Pedrero was furious and stormed out of the ring.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
