Delphine Persoon: bring on Erica Anabella Farias!

Former European, IBF and WIBF champion Delphine Persoon impressively knocked out Kremena Petkova in 2 rounds tonight in Gent, Belgium in a final WBC eliminator to earn the right to challenge WBC champion Erica Anabella Farias from Argentina. The Belgian female star is eager to get into the ring with the current title holder. Petkova was dropped for the full count near the end of the 2nd round with a vicious left to the body.
Ermano Fegatelli outpointed Karim Chakim. It was quite competitive in the first 5 rounds but once the local boy upted the pace in the last 3 rounds it was quite one-sided. It was scored 3 times 80-72. Fegatelli enters now the WBC World cup.

Shock defeat for “Sugar” Jackson Osei Bonsu when he was stopped in the 2nd round against French champion Frank Haroche Horta. Horta hurt Jackson early in the 2nd and he never recovered. When he was on unsteady legs moments later the referee saved Jackson from more punishment. This defeat probably put on hold his scheduled EBU-EU title defence against Nieto from Spain which was scheduled for May 31 in Antwerp on a open air show. Sugar Jackson, a former EBU champion, and his team will now have to sit down and reconsider about Jackson’s future in boxing.

Sasha Yengoyan once again showed that he is very limited in boxing skills but his punching power gets him the wins. This time he dropped Sergei Melis at the end of the 3th. Melis complained that the punch landed at the back of the head. The visitor from Estonia was dropped again at the end of the 5th and when he was down a 3rd time at the start of the 6th it was wisely waved off by the referee.

Local star Ismael Abdoul easily defeated former WBC Youth champion Tony Visic with 3 times 80-71. Visic was deducted a point for persistant holding.

Bilal Laggoune was very lucky to get a majority draw against Joel Tambwe Djeko. Laggoune and Abdoul are now probably fighting for WBC belts on June 29 in Ninove. Laggoune for WBC Youth and Abdoul will hopefully get another chance for the WBC Mediterranean title whom he hold before losing to Kiladze.

Tony Ingelrest warmed up for his Belgian titlefight against Dufaux when his last minute opponent Ivica Cukusic failed to come out for the 4th round.

Gian Carlo Liesdek WMD04 Carlos Torres Suarez. It was scored 38-38, 39-37 and 39-38 both for visitor Liesdek.

Promoter Claude Vandenheede announced his next 2 dates: August 23 in Ostend and Oct 11 again in Gent.
This event was sold out and TV SPORT10 and AVS both showing the last 4 bouts live.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
