IBF jr welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (31-1-1, 16 KOs) thrilled his hometown following with an impressive eighth round TKO over former WBO jr welterweight titlist Kendall “Rated R” Holt (28-6, 16 KOs) on Friday night at the DC Armory in Washington, D.C. Peterson dropped Holt with a right hand in round four. Holt went to a knee after a barrage of punches by Peterson in round six. The fight was finally stopped by referee Tony Weeks after another barrage by Peterson at 1:42 of round eight. It was Peterson’s first fight in 14 months after failing a drug test that resulted in a forfeiture of the WBA version of the belt.

In a battle of undefeated jr featherweights, Roman Morales (15-0, 8 KOs) scored a fifth round KO over Jesus Hernandez (10-1-3, 2 KOs). Morales dropped Hernandez at the end of round four. A body shot by Morales put Hernandez down for the count in the following round. Time was 2:59.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
