Photos: Fonfara-Campillo sparring session

Report/photos: Przemek Garczarczyk

When WBC challenger Andrzej Fonfara (25-2, 15 KOs) last saw former WBA champion Gabriel Campillo (22-6, 9 KOs) it was August 2013 and both men were in the middle of the ring at US Cellular Field, usually home of the Chicago White Sox. Fonfara won the fight after hard battle with his power but the southpaw from Spain proved why he is considered one of the slickest, most accurate punchers in the game. “Gabriel, like my other sparring partners before the Adonis Stevenson fight, works hard, give me all they have during sparring,” said Fonfara. “He never wastes his punches, has a very elusive style and I need to be my best. This exactly what I want from my sparring partners.” On May 24, the “Polish Prince” will face WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (23-1, 20 KOs) in Montreal.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
