A week before very important fights for both of them, Donovan George and Andrzej Fonfara got in one last sparring session against each other at the Chicago Boxing Club.
Super middleweight Donovan George (22-1, 19 KOs) fights another top prospect Edwin Rodriguez (20-0, 14 KOs) on Saturday in New York’s Madison Square Garden on HBO, while Andrzej Fonfara (20-2, 11 KOs) and undefeated as a light heavyweight with 8 straight KOs, fights on Friday in Chicago’s UIC Pavilion for the USBO/IBO title against Byron Mitchell (29-9, 22 KOs).
“We are very good friends for many years, but we went as hard as possible in full protective gear and 16-ounce gloves for four rounds,” said Fonfara. “The last sparring is the last test of all the weeks of hard work you put to be the best. A battle between friends is always the toughest. It was a draw.”
