Polish Power on display in Chicago

By Przemek Garczarczyk

“It’s just a question of time when Andrzej Fonfara will be a world champion,” said WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof “Diablo” Włodarczyk (48-2, 34 KO) after tonight press conference in Chicago. #1 IBF rated light heavyweight Andrzej Fonfara (24-2, 14 KO) stated, “I’m proud to fight with Diablo on one card.”

Włodarczyk will defend his title against Giacobbe Fragomeni (31-3, 12 KO), and Fonfara will be tested by hard hitting Colombian Samuel Miller (26-7, 23 KO) on Friday night at the UIC Center in Chicago.

Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk: I’m here to show the world and the fans in Chicago how good I am. I’m here to prove I’m the best, like I did in Moscow in my last fight. Thanks everyone for coming. This is a great city and I’ll see you all on Friday night.

Giacobbe Fragomeni: I respect Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. He is a great champion. I am honored to fight in this great city and hope it will be an exciting fight for the fans.

Andrzej Fonfara: I had a great training camp. I spent part of the time in Big Bear, California and part of the time here. I am ready for my fight with Miller. He is a good fighter and a strong puncher and a tough guy, but I’m going to win. I will be world champion one day.

Samuel Miller: I know what my job is. I am here to one thing and that is to take away Andrzej Fonfara’s #1 ranking and take his place. That’s the only thing I’m here to do.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
