“I feel fantastic. Fixing my injured right hand, getting surgery was the best thing that could happen to me. Now I can can hit with full power and not worry what will happen next,” – said IBO light heavyweight champion, 25-year old Andrzej Fonfara (23-2, 13 KOs) in a Fightnews.com interview. On August 16 Fonfara is expected to headline the show at Chicago White Sox Stadium against former WBA titlist Gabriel Campillo (21-5, 8 KOs). “I understand all the expectations, but I like the pressure aof tough fight. Campillo fought the best – twice Shumenow, Cloud, Murat – you name it, all these guys were in very tough fight with him but this is what makes it special for me. Of course fighting in front of my hometown fans at such a special venue like US Cellular Field is something else altogether. We have more than two months until fight but I can feel like I can fight Campillo today. In couple of days I’m leaving for a 2 week Florida training camp, than back to Chicago. Can’t wait,” said Fonfara.
The August 16 event will be broadcast by ESPN2 and also showcase a rematch of the very entertaining clash between 24-year-old Polish heavyweight hope,Artur “The Pin” Szpilka (14-0, 11 KOs) and another Chicago hometown favorite, “Merciless” Mike Mollo (20-4, 12 KOs).
