Porky Medina still unbeaten!

20090802porky001

Mexican prospect and knock out artist Rogelio “Porky” Medina showed his power again by dismantling Humberto Corral in round one-and-a-half in their rematch Friday night at the Port of Guaymas in Sonora, Mexico. “Porky” (19-0, 15 KOs) looked sharp and mature while picking apart an opponent that made him go the distance the prior time they faced each other. This time he used and landed throughout the bout a stiff jab and good combination’s to the head and body of his opponent, in a fight that was scheduled for 8 rounds at middleweight. Along with “Porky”, four other prospects of Latin Sports Promotions were victorious on their way to be developed and are ready for better and bigger things: super lightweight contender Gabriel “Rey” Martínez (23-1-1, 13 KOs) beat Daniel Yocupicio by unanimous decision after 6 rounds, super flyweight sensation Juan “Gallo” Estrada (9-0, 8 KOs) stopped Javier Meraz in 2 of 6 rounds, and featherweight José Félix Montiel Jr., and super lightweight Ángel Martínez made their pro debuts by both knocking out their opponents in the first round.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
