Powell accepts Latimore fight

Negotiations are set to begin for an IBF jr middleweight eliminator for the #1 ranking and mandatory challenger status between Deandre Latimore and Sechew Powell, which will be a much anticipated rematch. The Powell camp informed IBF Championship Chairman Lindsay Tucker of Powell’s availability today. “I am thrilled to have this opportunity,” said Powell. “The loss to Deandre has been a thorn in my side for a year and a half, and this is the chance I’ve been hoping for, to redeem myself from the loss, and get back to the place I was before it. You’ll see the real Sechew Powell in the ring this time.”
Manager Mark Vaz added, “We are very happy to have this fight come along. Sechew was terribly disappointed that his scheduled fight last week in Vegas fell through at the last minute, he had trained hard and was in fantastic shape. This is the best way we could think of to start the new year.”
