Prescott foe named!

An opponent has been named for world-ranked and undefeated lightweight Breidis Prescott (21-0, 18 KOs) on July 17 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Prescott, best known for his first round KO of Amir Khan, will face world-ranked Miguel Vazquez (24-3, 12 KOs), who has gone the distance with current WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. Also featured is amateur superstar and two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rignondeaux (1-0, 1 KO) against Robert Guillen (4-2-3) in a super bantamweight clash. Rignondeaux is being trained by Freddie Roach.

Four other Cuban boxers, including unbeaten super welterweight Erislandy Lara, appear on the card dubbed “The Future of Boxing” and presented by Roy Englebrecht Events in association with Caribe Promotions, DeCubas Presents and Jaoli Fight Promotions.

Lara (6-0, 4 KOs) is in the eight-round semi-main event against spoiler Darnell Boone (16-11-2, 6 KOs). Also on the nine-bout card is undefeated and highly regarded Las Vegas lightweight Sharif Bogere (10-0, 6 KOs) in a six-round bout against an opponent to be determined.

Another four-round bout features super welterweight Yudel Johnson (1-0, 1 KO) against Chris Chatman (2-0). The 28-year-old Johnson was a silver medalist for Cuba at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Also seeing action are cruiserweight Yordanis Despaigne (1-0) against Johnny Marino (0-0), cruiserweight Duniel Dorticos (0-0) against Calvin Rooks (1-1-1), heavyweight Lionel Davis (1-0, 1 KO) against Brice Ritani-Coe (0-0) and heavyweight Scott Alexander (1-0, 1 KO) against Benjamin Lee (1-1).

The card will be televised by ESPN2.

The card will be held in the Grand Ballroom at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific) with the first fight starting at 5:45.

Tickets are priced at $25, $50 and $100 with all seats reserved.

In addition there are a limited amount to eight-seat tables around ringside; the price is $1600 for a table or $200 per seat and includes bottle service.
