Preview: “Havoc at the Hard Rock!”

By Felipe Leon

The “Havoc at the Hard Rock” fight card being held at the beautiful Hard Rock Hotel in downtown San Diego, CA presented by the newest boxing promoter in Southern California, Rogue Boxing on Thursday, May 21st is coming together with the dilligent work of its matchmaker Vince Parra.

“The match ups we have are making me salivate. I can’t wait for the leather to start flying,” Parra states. “If you are a boxing fan, these will be the best fights San Diego has seen in a long time. First time fans also will not be disappointed.”

Along with the featured eight round lightweight bout of unbeaten Filipino sensation Mercito Gesta (14-0-1, 5KO) against Tijuana’s 2008 Prospect of the Year Alain “Konan” Hernandez (14-6-2, 7KO) and hot lightweight prospect Carlos Molina (6-0, 3KO) taking on his biggest challenge to date in Nicaragua’s Anthony Martinez (21-29-3, 9KO) in a six rounder, three more bouts flesh out the card.

In what is sure to be the fight of the night, unbeaten middleweight KO artist Abraham “Abie” Han (3-0, 3 KO) tries to keep his knock out streak alive against fellow undefeated Ibahiem “All Mighty” King (6-0, 2KO) in a scheduled six round bout while recent addition super flyweight Sergio “San Diego Sensation” Espinoza (15-5-1, 5KO) returns to the ring versus TBA.

Molina’s stablemate at the Espinoza Boxing Club, super bantamweight Ronny Rios (4-0, 1KO) returns to “America’s Finest City” for the third time this year as he faces Alvaro Muro (6-14, 5KO) in a four rounder.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
