Thompson knocks out Price in two

Two-time heavyweight title challenger Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KOs) scored a shock second round KO over previously unbeaten British heavyweight hope David Price (15-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. The 41-year-old Thompson landed a crushing right hand below the ear that sent Price to the deck. A wobbly Price was not allowed to continue. Time was 2:17. Price had hoped to use this fight to compare against Wladimir Klitschko’s two KO wins over Thompson, but it didn’t work out that way.

“This leaves me going after that sissy Tyson Fury for right now,” said Thompson after the fight. “He’s been talking a lot of noise in the press. I took care of David like I said I would, now it’s time to take care of him.”

Earlier, British light welterweight beltholder Darren Hamilton (13-2, 3 KOs) outpointed Steve Williams (13-2, 5 KOs) over twelve rounds by scores of 118-111, 119-109, 120-108.

In a clash for the British and Commonwealth flyweight titles, unbeaten Kevin Satchell (10-0, 2 KOs) hammered out a hard fought twelve round unanimous decision over Luke Wilton (13-3-1, 7 KOs). Scores were 119-112, 119-110, 118-111.
