Jeff Wilson Promotions and People’s Champ Boxing, in association with Maple City Boxing Club have teamed up to bring professional boxing to La Porte Civic Auditorium in La Porte, Indiana tonight. The event has nine bouts scheduled, with the featured bout of the evening pitting former National Golden Glove Champion Cedric Johnson (9-3, 7KO) against Hammond, Indiana’s Devin Lopez (7-5, 6KO) in a middleweight showdown. The card also features local favorites, Oswaldo Lopez Escobedo (2-1, 2KO), welterweight Marcus Thompkins (3-0, 1NC), Jeff Poole (1-0, 1KO) and Tabitha Hayes (1-0, 1KO). There will be three local fighters making their professional debuts as well; middleweight Ricardo Garcia, super middleweight Tony Winuski and cruiserweight Chae Uhelmann. Tickets are priced $20 for general admission, $30 for floor seats and $50 for ringside. Tickets are available in advance by calling (219) 369-3143 and at the door. Doors open at 6:00, bouts start at 7:00.
