Pro boxing returns to Las Cruces, N.M.

Art Monsivaiz Promotions will return pro boxing to Las Cruces, N.M., on Friday, Oct. 18 at the Las Cruces Convention Center. In the main event of the seven-bout card, unbeaten lightweight Jose “Shorty” Salinas (3-0, 3 KOs) of Las Cruces, will take on unwon Javier Nunez (0-2) of El Paso. The co-main features unwon Derrick “Bad Boy” Lopez (0-7) of Las Cruces, who looks for his first win against also winless Miguel Armendarez (0-9-1), also from Las Cruces. The rest of the card: debuting light-heavyweight Timothy Meeks takes on Lizandro Feliciano (0-1-1), of Roswell; debuting welter Adam Vasquez fights Derek Perez (0-2), of Belen; debuter Agustine Benegas faces Ronnie White in a battle of debuters; in a promising scrap, veteran Colbert Lozoya (6-10), of Las Cruces, faces Socorro’s David Castillo (3-6); and, in the opener, an argument for the main event, Las Cruces middleweight Gabe Lopez (2-0, 2 KOs) faces unbeaten Roswell fighter Gerardo Quintana (4-0-1, 3 KOs).
