After suffering defeats in two of his last three fights, Aaron Pryor Jr. (168 lbs) of Cincinnati, OH survived a shaky seventh round to come out strong in the eighth round opening a cut on Kendall Gould’s (170 lbs) of West Allis, WI left eyelid prompting Gould’s manager Israel Acosta the jump onto the ring apron to save his fighter from any further punishment, forcing the referee to stop the fight at 1:15 of the eighth and final round in the main event of the “Showdown in O Town” held in the Three Clans Ballroom of the Oneida Casino Friday evening. Pryor improved his record to 13-2, while Gould dropped to 12-15-1.

In the co-featured bout of the evening, Benjie “Boom Boom” Baker (247 lbs) of Paducah, KY stopped Thomas Boose (227.5 lbs) of Rockford, IL at 1:03 of the second round when Boose could no longer continue after being knocked down and suffering what was reported to be a broken right wrist. Boose in obvious pain was escorted from the ring by the attending physician and emergency medical personel.
In other bouts, David Laque (143.5 lbs) of Bloomington, MN won by TKO victory over Danny Schlienz (142.5lbs) of Duluth, MN when Schlienz failed to answer the bell for the fourth and final round.
In a four round bout between two Milwaukee fighters, Mike Culber (142 lbs) survived two second round knockdowns to gain a split decision victory (37-36, 37-36, 37-38) over Andre Sherard (140 lbs). Sherard found himself on the canvas in round four which led to overzealous protestations from one of his cornermen who was ejected from ringside by the referee. Sherard was also penalized 2 points in the third round for excessive holding.
Mike Davis (146 lbs) of Turtle Mountain, ND survived a point deduction for hitting as the referee called timeout to replace a dislodged mouthpiece as well as a knockdown in the fourth round to win a unanimous decision over local favorite Justin Danforth (144.5 lbs) of Oneida, WI with scores of 59-56, 58-57, 57-56
In the opening bout of the evening, James Owens (126.5 lbs) of Milwaukee, WI won a unanimous decision (40-37, 40-37 and 39-38) over Anthony “Assassin” Linenfelser (130 lbs) of Rockford, IL.
