“It will be me as usual – ‘The Machine’ working on full speed, all the time. This is the way I fight anyway. Mentally, because Rubio will fight in front of his fans, he will not break me. Physically, nobody can,” said Przemek “The Machine” Majewski (21-1, 13 KOs) in a Fightnews.com interview. His fight against Marco Antonio Rubio (57-6, 49 KOs) was announced Saturday by North Bergen, New Jersey-based Global Boxing Promotions CEO Mariusz Kołodziej. “We received and accepted the official contract to fight Marco Antonio tonight. The fight is on!” said Kołodziej. Rubio-Majewski will take place in Mexico with a site being announced shortly.

When we first spoke about possibility of fighting Rubio, you said “if not now, then when?”

There’s no time to waste. I’m not 25 anymore. I will not change as a fighter either. I know what my strengths are. You cannot say no when asked to fight for a world championship. Because it could be the only time when you will get this kind of chance. No brainer, really.

Marco Antonio Rubio belongs to the upper echelon of middleweight fighters, so you must have seen him in action even before the fight announcement.

I did – twice live, when he fought in the States. Very, very good Mexican fighter. Tough, ready to battle for 12 rounds every time he steps into ring. David Lemieux was 25-0 when he fought Marco in Texas. Wanted to break Rubio quickly, had some success early, but forgot who is he fighting. Got tired, Rubio never stopped fighting hard and knocked out Lemieux in the seventh round. This is something I have to be aware of – not getting too excited, pace myself.

When “El Venono” fought Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. he fought the same way – relentless.

He cannot fight any other way. This is why it should be a dream matchup for boxing fans because I’m the same way. Knowing that this fight is officially announced, I can concentrate on my eight week training camp in Atlantic City and my promoters Global Boxing Gym in North Bergen. I will be watching his fights every day, trying to find Rubio’s weaknesses. It will be me as usual – The Machine working on full speed, all the time. This is the way I fight anyway. Mentally, because Rubio will fight in front of his fans, he will not break me. Physically, nobody can.
