Puro Veneno: Rubio-Miranda final presser

By Gabriel F. Cordero

The final press conference for “Puro Veneno” headlined by WBC mandatory middleweight title challenger Marco Antonio “Veneno” Rubio (57-6-1, 49 KOs) against Dionisio “Mister Nocaut” Miranda (22-8-2, 19 KOs) was held Thursday in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Marco Antonio Rubio: “I fought here in Chihuahua 15 years ago as an amateur, my father died in Ciudad Juarez, so I feel linked with the state. We spent more than two and a half months in Oxnard with my namesake ‘El Dorado’ and as a good professional I’m focused on the immediate fight. I know that I’m facing a knockout artist and as such we’ll deal with it. This fight is dedicated to all in Chihuahua. I’m grateful for the way they have treated me here and that is the least I can do. This fight has more pressure, my future is at stake and we prepared thoroughly. We have to concentrate on the objective of the world title.”

Dionisio Miranda: “I’m here to ruin the party and may the best man win because I have no fear. I had been doing a great preparation for a fight that fell through and we have been well trained for the fight. I like to fight away from home, I like challenges like this.”

In the co-feature, WBC female silver light flyweight beltholder Yessica “Kika” Chavez (18-3-2, 4 KOs) faces Tsunami Tenkai (18-7, 7 KOs). Also middleweight Marcos “Dorado” Reyes (27-1, 22 KOs) is looking to avenge his 2010 defeat against Amilcar Funes (22-12, 17 KOs).

The card is promoted by Promociones del Pueblo and Goossen Tutor Promotions and will take place at the Palenque de la Feria de Chihuahua.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
