Once-beaten Alfredo Angulo participated in a media workout on Monday at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, N.Y., answering questions from New York-area media. Angulo (16-1, 13 KOs), rated WBO #4 and WBC/WBA #5, takes on unbeaten WBC #4/WBO #5 Harry Joe Yorgey (22-0-1, 10 KOs) for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental junior middleweight title on November 7 at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut and will precede the Chad Dawson-Glen Johnson rematch for the WBC interim and IBO light heavyweight titles.

A sampling of what Angulo had to say on Monday:

What kind of fight can we expect?

I am hoping the fight is going to be dynamic because Yorgey throws a lot of combination punches and so do I. I am hoping that it will be pleasing to the crowd.

What do you hope to improve upon going into this fight?

I didn’t cut off the ring (in the Cintron fight). That is usually one of my assets and I didn’t do that with Cintron. I didn’t pursue him enough and wasn’t as aggressive as I usually am. I am going to go back to my usual style on this one.

Is anything different in training?

I have definitely been working on my defense, been moving my head more. I am hoping that the opponent doesn’t have any contact with me. I hope I am throwing more of the hard punches.

How long have you been waiting for your chance for a title fight?

If I hadn’t lost to Cintron, I would have already been in a title fight. That postponed it six months.

Is your focus only this match or getting to the title fight?

I never look forward to the next fight. I am always focused on this opponent. This fight is the only fight that I am thinking about. That has always been my game plan.

On working out in New Jersey for a couple of weeks:

I came early to spend some time here with “papa” Gary (Shaw). I want my body to get acclimated to the weather because it is a lot colder than what I am used to, especially in November. I want to make sure I can keep my weight up in this weather. I’ve enjoyed the last week and will spend one more week in Gary’s home in New Jersey before we go to Connecticut next week.
