Qato victorious in Albania

Albania staged its biggest ever boxing night on Sunday when national hero Kreshnik ‘The Eagle’ Qato defended his WBF world middleweight title against Esteban Waldemar Ponce in the Albanian capital Tirana. A sell out crowd roared Qato to victory in a bad tempered affair taking the scorecards on a unanimous decision — Jean Marcel Nartz (Germany) 118:109, Artur Ellensohn, (Germany) 117:110, Matteo Fratini (Italy) 118:109. The fight was part of the World Boxing Federation’s first convention currently being staged in Albania.
