Quick return for JC Gomez

Last Saturday “The Black Panther“ Juan Carlos Gomez destroyed Ukrainian veteran Alex Mazikin with four knockdowns in three rounds. Not even two weeks later – on April 9th – the former WBC cruiserweight champion returns to the ring in Schwerin, Germany. Gomez wants to fight his way back to another title shot in the heavyweight division after losing to Vitali Klitschko last year. “I still have the goal to become the first Cuban world heavyweight champion in the history”, states Gomez. “Lots of people said that I was finished after losing to Vitali but I feel that there’s still a lot left in me. The Black Panther is back – It’s Showtime!” Besides Gomez, the fans in Schwerin will get to see “Sandman” Konstantin Airich facing off against Russian veteran Alexey Varakin. There will be 10 fights in total. Eurosport will broadcast the show live.

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
