Quillin yet to sign off on Korobov fight

Could WBO middleweight Peter Quillin pass up a career high $1.4 million payday against mandatory challenger Matt Korobov? The Quillin camp has asked for two extensions to sign for the fight against Korobov, which would be promoted by Roc Nation Sports, which won a purse auction with a $1,904,840 bid. The reason for the delays are said to be Quillin Family’s desire for privacy after the birth of a son last Saturday. The WBO has set a final deadline of Thursday.

There is speculation that the Quillin camp is looking at a fight with newly crowned WBA “regular” titlist Daniel Jacobs instead. However, if Quillin takes that fight, he will almost certainly be stripped of the WBO belt. Both Quillin and Jacobs are managed by Al Haymon.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
