Rahimi wins as pro boxing debuts in Afghanistan

History was made in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Tuesday with the first professional boxing match in that country’s history. In the featured bout, Afghan middleweight Hamid Rahimi (21-1, 10 KOs) scored a seventh round stoppage over Said Mbelwa (19-9-4, 12 KOs) from Tanzania to claim the WBO Intercontinental ‘Peace’ Championship and also earn a spot in the top 15 middleweight world rankings. The card was billed as “Fight 4 Peace.”
