Referee Garry to retire!

Veteran Florida referee Brian Garry has decided to hang up his ‘bow tie.’ Garry has acted as the third man for over 25 years and refereed 59 world title bouts and over 1,300 pro bouts overall. He has called title fights for WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, NBA ,WBU, and the IBO over his long career. Additionally he has acted as a judge, for eight world title bouts. Garry will now work on the newly formed, “Florida Boxing Hall of Fame”, along with pursuing some other opportunities in TV and media relations. He is also working on a book titled “Your Third Man in the Ring.” Garry’s motto: “Stop it one punch too soon, rather than one punch too late.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
