Rendall Munroe stops Laszlo Fekete in 101 seconds

By James Slater

Former European and Commonwealth super bantamweight champ Rendall Munroe stopped Hungary’s Laszlo Fekete in just 101 seconds of the first round on Sunday. Boxing in his hometown of Leicester, the 32-year-old hurt his southpaw foe with a right to the head, then decked him with a left. The visiting fighter got up but the fight was waved off. Munroe, who briefly retired late last year, fought at a career high 9 stone 7 pounds. Munroe is now 25-3-1, 11 KOs. Fekete falls to 6-2, 5 KOs. Promoter Mike Shinfield says he wants to get Munroe out again asap.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
