The last time Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions was in San Diego with a nationally televised broadcast was back in 2005, with a fight card that was marred with controversy. The then-jr. middleweight contender Marco Antonio Rubio was scratched in the main event after failing an eye exam according to the California State Athletic Commission.
But, on Friday night Golden Boy returned once again but this time free of fuss as the teamed up with Don Chargin Productions, Bobby D. Presents and Jorge Marron Productions to present “Solo Boxeo Tecate”, the weekly spanish language channel Telefutura’s weekly boxing broadcast. Held at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton, over 900 boxing fans witnessed local favorite Christopher “S.D. Kid” Martin (18-0-2, 5KOs) defend his California State super bantamweight title with an eight round unanimous decision over the much more experienced Adolfo Landeros (20-14-1, 9KOs) of Mexico City . . . click here for more
