Longtime sparring partners Art “Lionheart” Hovhannisyan (15-1-2, 8 KOs) and Alejandro “El Alacran” Perez (17-3-1, 11 KOs) did it for real on Friday night in a super featherweight clash at the Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, California. The result was a hard-fought upset ten round unanimous decision for Perez, who took the ’0′ from the previously unbeaten record of Hovhannisyan by scores of 96-93, 96-93, 95-94.
In a clash of unbeaten middleweights, Tureano “Reno” Johnson (14-0, 10 KOs) scored an eight round unanimous decision over Willie Fortune (15-1, 7 KOs). Johnson, who represented the Bahamas in the 2008 Olympic Games, won by scores of 80-72 on all cards.
