Cano, Guerrero win; Keb Baas upset
Former jr welterweight title challenger Pablo Cesar Cano (23-1-1, 18 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Francisco Contreras (16-2, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at the Grand Oasis Resort in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. In his first bout after his loss against four-time champion Erik Morales, Cano dropped Contreras in round one and twice in round five.
In an upset, Mario “Dragonsito” Rodriguez (13-6-4, 9 KOs) scored a fifth round KO against former WBC jr flyweight weight champion Gilberto Keb Baas (35-22-4, 22 KOs). In his first bout since losing his belt to Adrian Hernandez last April, Keb Baas was finished by a body shot.
Popular Maryland super middleweight contender Fernando Guerrero (23-1, 18 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over Canadian tough guy Jason Naugler (18-16-1, 11 KOs). The bout was waved off at 2:36 after Naugler had taken some heavy shots.
Unbeaten bantamweight Robert Manzanarez (17-0, 12 KOs) scored a first round KO over David Solorio (17-6, 14 KOs).
Unbeaten jr welterweight Fidel Maldonado Jr (13-0, 11 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Antonio Chuc (8-1-2, 2 KOs).
