In a crossroads light heavyweight bout, WBO #9/WBC #12 “Polish Prince” Andrzej Fonfara (22-2, 12 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over 43-year-old former world champion Glen Johnson (51-17-2, 35 KOs) on Friday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Johnson faded late as Fonfara won by scores of 99-91, 97-93, 97-93.
Two-time lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo (64-11-1, 55 KOs) won by eighth round TKO over Ivan Popoca (15-2-1, 10 KOs) in a welterweight bout. The 38-year-old Castillo dropped Popoca with a left hook in round two, and Popoca’s face was a mask of blood as he was cut over both eyes.
