German Titov, 2008 Russian promoter of the year, has staged another local show today at his Ural stronghold in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Headlining the show were two rising prospects from lighter weight classes. Uzbekistan native super featherweight Gayratjon Abdulhakimov moved to 9-0 with 6 KOs after a destructive second-round technical knockout of comebacking professional opponent Pavel ‘Macho’ Kubasov (4-32, 1 KO). Kubasov was down three times in the second stanza before the stoppage. Featherweight Georgi Kevilishvili (9-0, 3 KOs) floored his overmatched opponent Yuri Margaryan (0-2) with a vicious body-punch in the third round and finished him moments later with the same type of blow.
Also, in a crowd-pleasing two-way action welterweight Andrey Berdyshev (5-0, 1 KO) barely retained his perfect record with a six-round majority decision over fellow unbeaten Ivan Kaberkon (2-1, 2 KOs). Kayo master Roman Simakov (6-0-1, 4 KOs) went the full distance for the second time in his career, outpointing Pavel Kalabin (2-10-1) over four rounds on all three judges’ scorecards. Flyweight Rustam Nabeev (2-0) scored a unanimous decision over Ravil Shalagin (0-7) after four rounds.
