Charr obliterates Airich

Former heavyweight title challenger Manuel “Diamond Boy” Charr (22-1, 12 KOs) needed just 44 seconds to annihilate Konstantin “Sandman” Airich (24-9-2, 18 KOs) on Friday night at the Maritim Hotel in Cologne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Charr bum-rushed Airich and got him out of there with a left hook to the body to claim the vacant WBC Baltic and WBC Mediterranean heavyweight titles. Airich didn’t come close to beating the count of referee Daniel Van de Wiele.

It was Charr’s first fight since his world title loss to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in September.

39-year-old former Mike Tyson conqueror Danny Williams (44-15, 33 KOs) lost an eight round unanimous decision to German journeyman Werner Kreiskott (13-19-1, 8 KOs).

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
