WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40 KOs) won a harder than expected twelve round unanimous decision over Dereck Chisora (15-3, 9 KOs) on Saturday night at the Olympiahalle in Munich, Germany. Things got off to a rocky start when Chisora spit in Wladimir Klitscko’s face during the introductions. After a close first round, Klitachko started to land his right hand in round two and continued to land clean power shots from a distance as the bout progressed. Chisora showed a good chin, and did the majority of his work to the body. Neither fighter ever hurt the other. Scores were 118-110, 118-110, 119-111.

After the fight Vitali briefly mentioned a possible left shoulder injury whick kept him from using his jab for much of the fight and stated, “I’m very upset because I wanted very much to knock him out…great performance by Chisora.” Chisora stated he spat in Wladimir’s face because Wlad previously pulled out of two fights with him…both Chisora and his promoter Frank Warren called for a rematch.

WBC #5/IBF #11 heavyweight Johnathon Banks (28-1-1, 18 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Nicolai Firtha (20-10-1, 8 KOs) to successfully defend his NABF belt. Scores were 120-108, 119-109, 119-109.

WBO #5 jr welterweight Serhiy Fedchenko (30-1, 13 KOs) outpointed previously unbeaten Laszlo Fazekas (8-1-1, 6 KOs) over eight largely uneventful rounds.
