In what was billed as his “farewell fight,” 39-year-old former light heavyweight and cruiserweight champion Zsolt Erdei (34-1, 18 KOs) outpointed Shalva Jomardashvili (36-7-2, 27 KOs) over ten rounds to win the vacant WBO European title at the Messzi István Sporthall in Kecskemet, Hungary. It was a typical Erdei performance as he put on a boxing clinic against a slower foe. Erdei’s only career loss was a close split decision against Denis Grachev in his previous fight.
Super bantamweight Zsolt Bedak (20-1, 8 KOs) scored a tenth round TKO over George Gachechiladze (13-10-1, 6 KOs) to claim the vacant WBO European super bantamweight title. The bout was waved off by referee Geno Rodriguez after Bedak floored Gachechiladze in the last minute.
39-year-old former IBO jr middleweight beltholder Attila Kovacs (32-4, 19 KOs) topped journeyman Giorgi Ungiadze (24-19, 11 KOs) in a four-rounder.
