Cancio defeats Rocky Juarez

Jr lightweight prospect Andrew “Chango” Cancio (14-1-2, 11 KOs) scored the biggest win of his career to date with a ten round unanimous decision over six-time former world title challenger and 2000 Olympic Silver Medalist Rocky Juarez (28-10-1, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. Cancio was credited with a questionable knockdown in round one, but Juarez came back to floor Cancio in round two. Cancio dropped Rocky again in the fifth round and was in command for the rest of the fight. Scores were 97-90, 97-90, 98-89. Now six straight losses for Juarez.

Unbeaten jr middleweight Hugo “The Boss” Centeno (14-0, 8 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over Rahman Yusubov (8-8, 6 KOs). Yusubov’s corner threw in the towel to save their man from further punishment. Time was 2:39.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
