Unbeaten WBC #3/WBA #7 middleweight Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez moved to 27-0, 21 KOs after an explosive first round KO over Don Mouton (12-9-1, 10 KOs) on Saturday night before a large crowd at the Energy Center in Laredo, Texas. The much taller Ramirez first knocked Mouton through the ropes and completely out of the ring. Mouton was able to scramble back into squared circle, but “Zurdo” quickly floored him again and the bout was waved off. Time was 1:31.

2012 U.S. Olympian super lightweight Jose Ramirez (8-0, 6 KOs) scored a spectacular first round stoppage of Javier Perez (8-7, 5 KOs). The bout was waved off after Ramirez dropped Perez hard with a barrage of flush punches and Perez got up on wobbly legs. Time was 2:36.

Former super bantamweight world title challenger Roberto Marroquin (23-3-1, 16 KOs) and journeyman Alejandro Rodriguez (18-13-1, 11 KOs) battled to a hard fought eight round draw. Scores were 76-76 across the board. The bout was fought in the lightweight division. Marroquin is now 1-2-1 in his last four.

Unbeaten welterweight Alex Saucedo (12-0, 9 KOs) demolished Frencisco Reza (12-10, 9 KOs) in the first round. Saucedo battered Reza to the deck and the fight was waved off during Saucedo’s follow-up assault. Time was 2:10.

Lightweight Angel Hernandez (8-1, 4 KOs) scored a third round TKO against local favorite Eddie Ramirez (6-15-1, 3 KOs) in a spirited clash. Time was 1:42.
