Former jr. middleweight world title challenger Vanes “The Nightmare” Martirosyan (34-1-1, 21 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Mario Lozano (27-5, 20 KOs) on Friday night at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, California. Martirosyan dropped Lozano with a right hand to the head in round two and went to to win by scores of 100-89 on all cards. It was Martirosyan’s debut under the Goossen Tutor promotional banner.
Lightweight contender Anthony Peterson (33-1, 21 KOs), brother of current IBF junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson, won by a ten round unanimous decision over Marcos “El Tigre” Jimenez (20-5, 13 KOs). Peterson outboxed Jimenez to win by scores of 98-92, 100-90, 99-91.
In the evening’s walkout bout, Vatch Martirosyan, (3-0, 2 KOs), younger brother of Vanes Martirosyan, knocked down winless Gustavo Lopez, (0-2-1), three times before referee Raul Caiz Jr. stepped in to stop the beating at 1:01 of round three in a scheduled four-round welterweight bout.
