Nugaev KOs Hernandez; Pedraza tops Tolmajyan

Lightweight Rustam “The Mongoose” Nugaev (25-6, 15 KOs) scored an impressive fifth round KO over Jose “El Loco” Hernandez (14-5-1, 6 KOs) on Friday night at the Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, California. Nugaev was too strong for Hernandez, finally battering him to a knee in round five for the count. Time was 1:38.

Undefeated jr. lightweight Jose “The Sniper” Pedraza moved to 14-0 with 9 KOs after a hard fought ten round unanimous decision over Gabriel “The Ghost” Tolmajyan (13-3-1, 3 KOs). Pedraza, a highly touted 2008 Olympian for Puerto Rico, compiled a 97-93 win on all cards to claim the USBA title.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
