Undefeated junior featherweight prospect Rico Ramos (18-0, 10 KOs) scored an impressive second round KO over Heriberto Ruiz (44-10-2, 26 KOs) on Monday night at the USMC Air Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina. A right hand to the jaw decked Ruiz to end it. Time was 1:03.

2008 U.S. Olympian super middleweight Shawn Estrada (10-0, 9 KOs) went the distance for the fit time in his career in winning a six round unanimous decision over Tony Hirsch (12-4-1, 6 KOs). Estrada dropped Hirsch in round one with a left hook but Hirsch survived the round. Hirsch gained in confidence as the bout progressed. Estrada was cut at the side of the left eye in round four. Scores were 58-55, 59-54, 59-54.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
