In a clash of unbeaten heavyweights, Bryant Jennings (12-0, 5 KOs) of South Philly won a ten round unanimous decision Maurice Byarm (13-0-1, 9 KOs) of North Philly to claim the vacant Pennsylvania State Heavyweight Championship on Saturday night at the Asylum Arena in Philadelphia. Jennings outworked Byarm to earn a 97-93, 96-94, 96-94 verdict.
Jr middleweight “King” Gabriel Rosado (19-5, 11 KOs) scored a surprisingly one-sided fifth round TKO over Jesus Soto-Karass (24-8-3, 16 KOs). Rosado was on the attack from the opening bell until referee Steve Smoger waved it off at 2:06 of the fifth with Soto-Karass under heavy fire.
Fast rising light heavyweight Sullivan Barrera (9-0, 6 KOs) outpointed previously unbeaten Damar Singleton (8-1, 4 KOs) over six, but failed to impress. Scores were 60-54, 60-54, 59-55.
